Claude: Rewrite Resume Bullets for Remote Jobs

Table of Contents

The average recruiter spends about seven seconds on a resume. If your bullet points read like a job description instead of a highlight reel, you're invisible.

The problem isn't your experience — it's how it's written. Most people describe duties ("responsible for managing email") instead of results ("grew email revenue 38% in 90 days").

Claude can fix every bullet in minutes if you give it the right structure. Here's the formula and the prompt.

The Action + Skill + Result Formula

Every strong bullet follows the same pattern. Burn this into your brain:

  • Action — what you did (a strong verb)
  • Skill — how you did it (the tool or method)
  • Result — what happened (a number whenever possible)
  • Example: "Cut response time 60% by building automated SMS workflows in GoHighLevel"

Before and After Examples

See the difference the formula makes across different roles:

  • Before: "Handled customer support." After: "Resolved 40+ daily tickets, lifting CSAT from 82% to 94%."
  • Before: "Did social media." After: "Grew LinkedIn following 3x and generated 50+ inbound leads in 6 months."
  • Before: "Worked on ad campaigns." After: "Managed $25k/mo ad spend at a 4.2x ROAS across Meta and Google."

The Full Claude Prompt

Paste your weak bullets and let Claude rewrite them with the formula:

Resume Rewrite Prompt
Act as a resume writer who specializes in remote roles. Rewrite my resume bullets using the format: Action + Skill/Method + Measurable Result.

For each bullet:
- Start with a strong action verb
- Include the tool or method used
- Add a specific, quantified result (estimate if needed and mark it)
- Keep it to one line
- Mirror keywords from this target job description: [PASTE JD]

Creating Role-Specific Versions

One resume doesn't fit every job. Ask Claude to tailor versions for each track you're targeting:

  • IT Support — emphasize ticket volume, SLAs, tools
  • SaaS — emphasize product, churn, expansion metrics
  • Customer Success — emphasize retention and NRR
  • Marketing Ops / Automation — emphasize systems and ROI

ATS Optimization Tips

Before a human sees your resume, software screens it. Make sure it passes:

  • Mirror exact keywords from the job description
  • Use standard section headers (Experience, Skills, Education)
  • Submit as a .docx or simple PDF — no fancy columns
  • Avoid images, text boxes, and tables that ATS can't read

What To Do After the Rewrite

A great resume is step one. Align the rest of your presence:

  • Update your LinkedIn headline and About to match
  • Write a short cover letter that echoes your top 3 bullets
  • Prepare to tell the story behind each result in interviews
  • Keep a master resume and tailor per application
